John Whitelegg
Biography
John is professor of sustainable development with the Stockholm Environment Institute in York (UK). He has worked in several universities, as a staff member of a German ministry of urban development in Dusseldorf, as a transport officer in the Outer Hebrides (NW Scotland) and he runs his own transport consultancy company. He was a green party city councillor in Lancaster for 8 years and edits the journal “World Transport Policy and Practice”
Course
The course will explore the importance and linkages between sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles and put this into the context of scientific analysis of major global issues including climate change, food security and well-being. The emphasis will be on participants taking an active role in defining desirable futures, establishing what has to change and who can change things and equipping us all with design skills for a better world and insights into how to get there
