The very first question we can ask is: Should governments and other organizations from wealthier countries be meddling at all in what people eat in poorer countries? What ulterior motives might they have? And will they be changing local traditions that have been in place for a long time?

At the same time, what effect does the growing and consuming of food by a family have on the survival and health of young children – and of young mothers, and on their economic wellbeing? And how can programs be sure that they’re accomplishing their objectives?
